Instant messengers give us the possibility of communicating over any distance, free of charge, but they still have their limitations. Certain applications may be quite popular, but they are not available for all platforms. QQ International facilitates communication between Windows and Mac OS X computers, as well as Android and iOS mobile devices. It supports text, voice and video messaging and it comes with many useful tools.

QQ International is offered free of charge and it can be installed in no time, on the aforementioned platforms. Its hardware requirements are modest and it doesn't ask for any special tools or services, but you obviously need a constant Internet connection and an online account.

The main user interface is laid out like that of most instant messengers on the market. Contacts are displayed in collapsible lists, based on categories, like friends, acquaintances, family and so on. The chat windows have a familiar design as well. Besides typing and sending short text messages, you can also include emoticons, transfer files and start a voice and video conversation.

A particular feature which is definitely worth mentioning is the Translate button. If you receive text messages in a foreign language, you may click this button and choose a language pair to translate. You can set up one or more source and target language pairs in the general settings menu, so you will always have the right options at your disposal when you need to translate a message.

Besides contacts, you can also find apps and options for joining or creating chatrooms, on the same interface, but on separate tabs. QQ International makes it quite easy to find other people. Instead of typing a specific user ID, you only need to specify a person's name and the application will search for them. Additionally, you can try to make new friends by searching for people who meet certain criteria, like gender, age, hometown and so on.
